The Center for Building Knowledge has begun to install devices that will measure light usage in thirty homes as the first phase of a residential lighting energy study sponsored by PSE&G.  These devices will gather data before and after the installation of vacancy sensors, to determine if the sensors have an impact on the energy efficiency of the home.

On May 18, DDConnect, a collaboration between The Center for Building Knowledge at NJIT and the NJ Division of Developmental Disabilities, held a panel on housing.  The speakers were caretakers invited to share their successful alternative housing models.  Video and other resources from the event will be posted online soon, and opportunities for further mentoring between caretakers will be provided through online forums.

On Saturday, May 14, Deane Evans, Executive Director of the Center for Building Knowledge, spoke at a panel entitled "Affordably Green" as part of the AIA 2011 National Convention and Design Exposition in New Orleans.  The session explored proven regionally-based strategies for developing sustainable housing without breaking the budget.  Deane was joined by Elizabeth A. Debs and Casius Pealer.

Christine Liaukus, from the Center for Building Knowledge, will provide a technical presentation on Passive House to the audience of the 2011 East Coast Green Conference.  The conference will be held on June 22nd and 23rd at Brookdale Community College.

What: For individuals eligible for Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD) services, this is a forum to clarify the Developmental Disabilities Resource Tool (DDRT). This is the phone survey used by DDD to determine an individual’s level of need to provide supports after graduation.
